The design and physical features of the phone, include its 5.8-inch outside screen and 7.6-inch folding AMOLED display with a visible crease.  The performance of the phone, noting its surprisingly good performance despite using the same chip as other Pixel phones, also points out the battery life and lack of home screen customization as drawbacks. The phone’s five cameras, photos, and videos are decent but not up to the standard of other flagships.

The outside screen is 5.8 inches diagonally with thin bezels, making it the most reachable and usable of any folding phone. It has a fingerprint reader on the side which also doubles as the power button and a 120Hz OLED display. The interior folding AMOLED display is 7.6 inches diagonally, reminiscent of the Oppo Find N2 foldable, with a visible crease through the middle of the screen but easy to overlook when looking at content or using it normally.

It cannot fully unfold to 180 degrees and has a camera bump, which makes it rock when placed flat. The phone has a bigger top and bottom bezel than other folding phones, which was an intentional decision to have room for a real webcam or selfie camera instead of an under-display one. Additionally, the satin finish on the back looks good and minimizes fingerprints.

The performance of the Google Pixel Fold, states that it has been surprisingly good and better than any other Pixel phone despite using the same chip. The phone has 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, the reviewer does acknowledge that the battery life has not been great, with only around four hours of screen-on time at the end of the day.

They also note that while Google has done a lot of software work on the phone, there is one weird feature that stands out: the phone does not allow users to set up a different home screen on the inside and outside screens. This lack of customization may be frustrating for some users, especially given the phone’s high price point.

A  nine-megapixel hole-punch camera on the front of the outside screen, an eight-megapixel camera on the inside bezel, a 48-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel 5x telephoto lens on the back.  The photos are decent but a step down from the flagship Google Pixel. The video quality also had a lot of noise and was not up to the standard of other flagships.

The Google Pixel Fold states that they like it, but acknowledges that it’s a first-generation product with some drawbacks. They also mention the upcoming Android 14 and five years of promised security updates for the device.
